Caractérisation fonctionnelle de cultures de services en vignoble et étude des relations entre marqueurs fonctionnels des communautés végétales et services écosystémiques pour la viticulture

Abstract : Viticultural systems face environmental issues in relation with soil erosion, loss of soil organic matter, the use of pesticides and their effects on health and biodivestity, in a climate change context. The use of service crops in vineyards represent a set of agroecological practices that could both meet production objectives and address the different environmental issues in viticulture. The achievement of these objectives depends on the functional diversity of service crop communities, and on the relations between species functions in viticultural systems, their diversity in communities, and the relations between this diversity and ecosystem services. How to describe the diversity of plant communities in intercropped vineyard ? How to assess the link between plant diversity and the provision of ecosystem services by plant communities ? Can we manage the provision of ecosystem services in agrosystems ? To adress these questions, two experiments in field condition were performed in an experimental vineyard between 2015 and 2018: i) an experiment to assess the relevance of trait-based approach for the description of service crop diversity in vineyard and the evaluation of ecosystem service provision by plant communities, measured with indicators, and ii) an experiment to assess the impact of the mowing date of a green manure on ecosystem services provision in viticulture. The results confirmed the relevance and genericity of the trait-based approach to describe the diversity of service crop species, related to ecosystem service provision, on the basis of functional markers of communities composed by sown and spontaneous species. The results presented here also confirmed the existence of relations between the functional properties of plant communities and the ecosystem services they provide. The quality of the highlighted relations showed the ability of functional markers to describe species functions at the community scale, and to explain important variation percentages of indicators of service provision. This work also confirmed the importance of service crop management by technical operations (e.g. mowing date) to optimize ecosystem services provision and limit the disservices. The implementation of trait-based approaches in diverse pedoclimatic contexts may allow us to build general rules on plan communities functioning for the provision of ecosystem services in agrosystems
